Respect in maternity care.

Every pregnant woman deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally.

Respectful relationships are about embedding a culture of respect and equality across our maternity services, starting with education in universities.  We know that changes in attitudes and behaviours can be achieved when positive attitudes, compassionate behaviours and equality are embedded in health professional education. This approach leads to better relationships between women and their maternity care providers, has positive impacts on the mental health of those who are pregnant as well as those providing maternity services, and improves workplace culture.

Together, we can lead the way in saying yes to respect and equality, creating genuine and lasting change so that every woman has the opportunity to achieve the best pregnancy outcomes.
